Exposure Visit of MFIs to Bangladesh

RMDC has completed an exposure visit program to Bangladesh for its some Partner microfinance institutions from Apirl 11-20, 2014 in collaboration with Integrated Development Foundation (IDF), Bangladesh (IDF is a non-profit organization established to work with the backward, difficult and un-served areas in Bangladesh). The main objective of the visit was to give an exposure to the Nepalese microfinance practitioners about best practices of microfinance in Bangladesh where the world top MFIs – Grameen Bank, BRAC, ASA operating.

The participants in the study visit program were Mr. Raj Kumar Shrestha, Board Secretary, Srijana Community Development Centre, Siraha; Mr. Hari Prasad Niroula, vice president Sahara Nepal Saving & Credit Co-operative Society Ltd, Jhapa; Mr. Gyanu Nath Mainali, Board Member of Sahara Nepal Saving & Credit Co-operative Society Ltd, Jhapa; Mr. Prabhat Kumar Chaudhary Chairperson, Namaste Saving & Credit Co-operative Society Ltd, Kailali; Mr. Kunna Narayan Chaudhary, CEO of Namaste Saving & Credit Co-operative Society Ltd, Kailali; Mr. Madhan Raj Bhatta, MD Srijanshil Saving & Credit Co-operative Ltd; Padam Bandhu Pokharel, Chairman of Unnati Saving & Credit Co-operative Ltd, Kaski and Mr. Basu Dev Lamichhane Senior Officer, RMDC respectively. The team was coordinated by the senior officer of RMDC, Mr. Basu Dev Lamichhane.

During the visit, the team visited centers, branches and regional/area office of Grameen Bank, IDF, ASA and BRAC. All these organizations have been providing microfinance as well as other social services for the overall development of the poor families.

There were also special presentations for the participant from those organization. The special presentations included their status, current products and practices, experience and impact of their programs on their clients.
There was a final round-up meeting with the coordinating organization IDF Executive Director Mr. Zahirul Alam in Dhaka for sharing the participants experience of the visit and getting feedback. Each of the participants expressed his satisfaction on learning from the visit and showed their commitment to use the gained knowledge in their respective organization.
