Japanese Fund for Poverty Reduction Assistance for Optimizing Productivity of Poor Water Users' Associations (JFPR Project)
Another ADB funded project JFPR has been also successfully completed. Under this project ADB has agreed to provide through the government a grant assistance not exceeding the equivalent of US$ 1,000,000 to implement JFPR Project activities. The Department of Irrigation (DOI) has taken overall responsibility in coordinating and managing the JFPR Project activities. In coordination with the DOI, RMDC has been responsible for implementing the microfinance activities. A grant fund of US$ 550,000 was budgeted for RMDC for the implementation of the microfinance activities, i.e. revolving credit fund for seed multiplication and micro-enterprise for women. The life of the project was 3.5 years. The project has been implemented in the Eastern and the Central Development Regions of the country. As of July 16, 2010, RMDC has approved and disbursed loan amounting Rs. 43.05 million to 4 institutions under the project.
